Sweet Bee Corn Sugar Bee Feed
This dextrose feed from Lappe's Bee Supply & Honey Farm LLC can be given to your honey bees in the spring and summer months as a liquid feed to stimulate egg laying and increase comb building, or in the early fall to increase winter stores. Corn Sugar Bee Feed can also be given in the overwintering months as a dry feed, as a winter patty, or as a candy board mixture to help get your honey bee colony through the cold winter weather. Can be mixed with granulated sucrose sugar in a 50/50 blend to increase dietary values.
Winter Patty Recipe
2 lb. granulated sugar
2 lb. corn sugar
1 c. cold water
1/4 tsp. Honey B Healthy
3/4 c. AP23 dry pollen substitute (or any pollen substitute)
Combine sugar, water and Honey B Healthy; mix together. Add AP23 dry pollen and mix well. Add more sugar, if needed, until mixture reaches cookie dough consistency. Sandwich between two 12 x 7 wax paper sheets; place on top bars of hive as needed. Makes 4 - 6 patties.
Spring Patty Recipe
2 lb. granulated sugar
2 lb. corn sugar
1 c. cold water
1 tsp. Honey B Healthy
2-1/2 c. AP23 dry pollen substitute (or any pollen substitute)
Combine sugar, water and Honey B Healthy; mix together. Add AP23 dry pollen and mix well. Add more sugar, if needed, until mixture reaches cookie dough consistency. Sandwich between two 12 x 7 wax paper sheets; place on top bars of hive as needed. Makes 4 - 6 patties.
