As moisture accumulation is a significant threat to bee health and the primary cause of hive loss in winter, this simple addition can mean the difference between survival and disaster.

- Moisture Management: By effectively absorbing interior moisture, our board prevents the damp conditions that lead to bee fatalities during winter. It acts as an efficient alternative to using a top entrance for ventilation, which, while releasing moisture, also lets out precious heat. This forces bees to consume more feed to maintain warmth, potentially depleting their winter stores too early and risking their lives before spring's arrival. Our moisture board tackles this issue head-on by soaking up moisture and wicking it away through its sides, all while retaining heat to reduce the bees' feed consumption.
- Simple Installation: To achieve maximum moisture reduction, we advise foregoing the inner cover for the winter months. First, place a bee hive shim atop your hive body for added spacing. Then, position the moisture board on the shim, ensuring the dark black side is facing upwards, away from the bees. For enhanced insulation, add an inner cover insulation sheet or pad over the board, secure the hive with a winter wrap, and replace the lid. Secure everything with a hive strap to prevent the lid from succumbing to winter winds.
