Please choose your shipping week and day; we only ship queens out on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. Shipping times vary between 2-3 days, depending on your location. It has been taking an extra day longer in some instances.

We ship by USPS Priority Mail for these queens. We DO NOT guarantee live arrival. We will do everything that we can to keep your queens alive during shipping, including mailing out all queens with attendants, but shipped queens are the SOLE RESPONSIBILITY of the purchaser.

Queen honey bees cannot survive for long outside of the hive! Your queen needs to be inside of the hive where the bees can feed her and give her water. Please plan on putting your queen into your hive shortly after getting her. Please do not leave queen bees sitting on the counter overnight!

You will receive an email when your queen(s) ship with a tracking number. When the queens arrive at your local post office, you will receive a phone call from the post office to come and pick your queens up. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HAVING THE QUEENS DELIVERED TO YOUR MAILBOX! Queens will die if left sitting inside of a hot mailbox for the day. Please make sure to pick up your queens from the post office, the sooner you pick them up, the better.

  • We recommend placing your queens into your hives as soon as you pick them up from the post office; your queens need to be taken care of by the bees inside the hive.
  • Queens come from a reliable breeder with over 25 years of experience.
  • Italian Hybrid queens are Minnesota Hygienic Italians. Queen is young, naturally mated and unmarked.
  • We can mark queens for an additional fee of $4 each. Please let us know which color you would like to have her marked. The International Color for 2017 is yellow, but if you are only marking her to make it easier to spot her, you can choose whichever color you think would make her easy to find.
  • We DO NOT clip the queens wings.
  • These queens will be shipped by the US Postal Service Priority Mail only. If you order 1-2 queens, then during checkout it will only give you the option of UPS; your queens WILL still ship by USPS, we are currently unable to change the shipping description. Shipping cost will be $12 for 1-2 queens, any order of 3 or more queens will ship free to any customer in the lower 48 states.
  • We can only ship queens to the lower 48 states at this time.
  • If you wish to pick up your queens from our location in East Peru Iowa, please see our Italian Queen Bees - In Store Pickup Only category by clicking here.

Place your order online to buy your queen honey bees. We will also accept orders over the phone if you prefer, and you can always give us a call or send us an email with any questions that you may have - we are always happy to speak with you!

Replacement Queen

Very professional...will use again. Had a small hiccup with the post office that sorted itself but before it did they totally stood with me and behind their product. I opened the hive one week after requeening and saw her going about her business, an egg in about every open cell and plenty of open brood. Can't beat that!

Italian hybrid queens

I ordered 3 Italian hybrid queens from lappes bee supply for shipment on June 19th. The box arrived at the post office on June 21st as expected. All bees were lively and in good condition and very well packaged. I installed them that day and all were released on June the 23rd when I checked on them but were not laying eggs yet. I was not able to check on them again until July 1st. Sadly one was evidently killed by the bees after a favorable reaction on introduction. Not very surprised at that one. The hive that I placed her in was not one of my nicer colonies and I had found the queen and made a nuc with her and hoped her population would accept a new queen and the extra numbers would give her a head start on the other two but that backfired. I never saw the other two queens but they are laying eggs now like gangbusters. Lots of open brood where the capped brood I had given them has been emerging. They are doing so well I gave them another nuc box with drawn comb and will update later as they build up. Really too soon to extrapolate much but it looks really good in the early stages.
