Why Beekeepers Use This Product

Beekeepers use frame grips to help remove individual frames from hive bodies during inspections, brood checks, honey harvesting, and colony management.

The larger gripping surface can make handling frames easier while wearing gloves or working around propolis-heavy colonies.

When to use: During hive inspections any time frames need to be removed and examined.

How It Works

First loosen the frame with a hive tool to break propolis seals and free the frame from the hive body. Then position the frame grip over the frame and lift carefully.

  • Springless design eliminates detached or broken springs
  • Wood handles improve grip comfort during inspections
  • Heavy-duty construction is designed for repeated apiary use
Apiary Management Notes
  • Frames heavily sealed with propolis should always be loosened before lifting
  • Slow frame removal helps reduce accidental bee injury during inspections
  • Frame grips are especially useful when handling tight-fitting brood frames
Seasonal Use
  • Spring: Useful during brood inspections and colony buildup checks
  • Summer: Commonly used during honey production and hive management
  • Fall: Helpful when checking food stores and colony condition before winter

    Heavy Duty Frame Grip

Posted by Clifford McGhghy on Apr 04, 2025

I have had other good frame grips that cost twice the amount paid for this grip. This grip appears to be well built and very heavy duty. This looks like money well spent.
