Our History
The Lappe family got its start in beekeeping in 1978 when Kenny Lappe Sr. retrieved a swarm from inside a farmhouse wall. He discovered a deep interest with honey bees from that one hive and over the next few years he increased the number of colonies and began his commercial beekeeping operation. In 2009 Kenny Sr. retired and Kenny Jr. took over the business, keeping bees for honey production. In 2015 we expanded our business to become Lappe’s Bee Supply and Honey Farm LLC and started selling beekeeping equipment and supplies. We manufacture and build all of our bee hives and woodenware at our location in East Peru Iowa. We are dedicated to helping beekeepers begin their beekeeping journey in every way that we can so that they get into the fast lane to becoming a successful and happy beekeeper!
