 Italian Hybrid Honey Bee Nucs

PLEASE NOTE: Honey Bee Nucs are for pick up only, so although you will get a quote during check out regarding free shipping, we will not ship nucs due to the tremendous and unacceptable amount of stress that it adds to the bees - we will not provide our customers with bees that will not perform well! Also, when you place your nucs in your cart, the system will show tax included on order, until you input your shipping address. Once your address has been entered, the tax will reconfigure to $0.00 for the nucs.

Buy strong 5 frame 9-5/8" deep nucs with a young, mated, unmarked Italian Hybrid queen. These bees are Minnesota Hygienic Italian bees that have been cross bred with Carniolan bees. They have a very good Varroa mite resistance, quick build up in the spring, they are great honey producers, and they overwinter well. Nucs are for pick up only from our location in East Peru Iowa. They will be available starting in early May. All orders placed will receive an email as soon as we know when the nucs will be ready with additional pick up details. We will work with you on whichever pick up day works for you; if a certain weekend or weekday works better for you, then we'll have the nuc ready for you on that day. The price shown above already has sales tax added into it, so the price you see is the end price you will get charged!

All nucs have 5 frames with a mixture of worker bees, nurse bees, drones, and a young mated Italian Hybrid queen bee who is already laying; brood in all stages from that queen; pollen and feed. Nucs will be in a reusable 5 frame plastic corrugated nuc box. We start the nucs out with brand new equipment, so there is no worry about old frames. We do not require a frame exchange. We cannot allow anyone to transfer the frames from their nuc boxes into their own equipment while they are here. Doing so would cause you to leave behind a portion of your bees with us, it's better if you take them to where you will be keeping them and transfer them there, so they can find their way back in with the queen. Please Note: Please be aware that you will need to place your frames of bees from the nuc into a regular hive body shortly after picking up from us. These frames will be full of bees and could potentially end up swarming if not give the extra room that a regular hive offers them.

Place your order online to reserve your nuc(s). You can choose to pay with a debit/credit card or Paypal, or you can choose to mail us a check or money order. If paying with a check or money order, we will reserve your nuc(s), but we need to receive your full payment within two weeks to guarantee your order. If we don't receive your payment, we will release your reservation to the next customer in line. We will also accept orders over the phone if you prefer, and you can always give us a call or send us an email with any questions that you may have - we are always happy to speak with you!

Advantages of getting a nuc:

  • The bees already have a head start at building up and gaining strength for the summer honey flow.
  • The queen has already been laying eggs for quite some time, and new bees are either hatching or getting ready to hatch.
  • They will also already have pollen and food stores available.

You can find an article here to find out how to transfer your nuc into your hive body. At Lappe's Bee Supply & Honey Farm LLC, we work hard to supply our customers with the best bees & beekeeping supplies possible, plus a wealth of knowledge to help you become a successful & happy beekeeper!

Good genetics

5/5
I ordered a nuc last year. They ended up being my best hive. They are very strong going through their first winter. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch, but the prospects of a good honey harvest are high for them this year.
